RedFox Solutions announced its plan to construct a data center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The centre, which is said to be the first of its kind in the East African country, is called RFDC1, will be built in a partnership with Rittal, which will oversee the installation and commissioning of a modular solution for the project.
The construction will be carried out inside ICT park, which is situated in outskirt of Addis Ababa in an area called Goro. It is expected to be finalized in less than a year.
"The launching of the data center marks a major milestone for Ethiopia and happens at this exciting juncture where activities are being undertaken to reform its telecom sector," said Eyob Tekalign, State Minister of Finance, while addressing about the importance of the center.
"Building a digital economy requires a more enhanced digital infrastructure that can improve speed, volume, efficiency, and access, which are pre-requisites for the economic transformation Ethiopia envisages," he added.
Established by Ethiopian-Diaspora Professionals specialised in telecom and Information Technology, RedFox also offers off-premise, secure, certified designs, and architectures for institutions that have compliance requirements for in-house deployments, according to its statement sent to FP.
