Dashen Bank unveils new platform that enable its customers to accept digital payments from anywhere in the world
Dubbed Amole eCommerce Gateway, the platform launched using Visa CyberSource infrastructure to acquire Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
Dashen partnered with Moneta Technologies and Visa CyberSource to launch the platform that supports Dashen’s customers and over 8000 Amole merchants.
"This partnership and technology play a pivotal role in delivering more value to merchants by linking them to more global eCommerce marketplace opportunities," said Yemriu Chanyalew, CEO of Moneta Technologies.
Because of the absence of digital payment system that accept international cards, businesses in Ethiopia have been challenged for long to sell their products abroad and receive payments online.
Bank of Abyssinia BoA was the first financial institution to implement Visa CyberSource payment gateway in Ethiopia, which enabled businesses accept online payments using credit cards.
After Dashen becomes the second Bank to do the same, Abebe Girmay, Visa’s Country Manager for Ethiopia, said that “with the Visa CyberSource payments infrastructure, businesses will accept online payments seamlessly.
"Consumers, tourists and visitors coming to Ethiopia will have access to a secured payment service. Moreover, the diaspora community can shop for their families and friends living in Ethiopia. All this will be carried out on a secured and risk-free online environment," he said.
